PRESS RELEASE:

"White Cane Week 2017"

Will be April 28 through May 7th, 2017. Lions Club volunteers will be stationed around Livonia and Redford collecting donations in support of those "in need" in both communities.

"Christmas Party for Multiple Handicapped Children"

The Livonia Lions co-sponsored a Christmas Party for the special needs children attending Cooke School- Northville on December 16th, 2016. More than 220 children were treated to lunch, activities, arts and crafts, musicians and a gift delivered by Santa Claus. "One Sight Program at Lenscrafters - Laurel Park"

The Livonia Lions provided meals and volunteers to support a group of 20 children who participated in the One Sight program at Lenscrafters - Laurel Park where they received eye exams and glasses on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016. "Children's Hospital Snow Pile to receive Toy Donations"

In December, The Livonia Lions donated toys and other gifts to the "Snow Pile" at Children's Hospital at Detroit Medical Center. Parents visit the Snow Pile, select some gifts, wrap them up and then present them to their sick child and other siblings to provide them with some added Christmas Cheer!

The Livonia Lions provide "Fun Time" for the children residing at Methodist Children’s Home

Lion Club "Fun Time" efforts have included donations of sports equipment, movie tickets, bowling, and a variety of field trips for the children. The Livonia Lions Club regularly donate "Departure Totes" filled items needed when a child leaves the Methodist Childrens Home for foster care. "Take Pride in Livonia"

Again this past May, the Livonia Lions participated in "Take Pride in Livonia" and performed park maintenance on the Harry Wolfe Tot Lot. Lions Volunteers weeded, racked up leaves, picked up trash, trimmed back bramble, power washed the play set and repaired fence posts that had been vandalized.

"Livonia Lions participate in the Seedlings Braille Books for Children Bowl-a-thon"

In March, 2017, the Livonia Lions, our families and our friends raised more than $5,000 to help Seedlings manufacture children's braille books. Since first participating in the Seedlings Bowl-a-thon, the Livonia Lions have raised more than $21,000 for Seedling which funded the manufacture and distribution of more than 2,100 braille books). "Spree 66" at Ford Field, Livonia

The Livonia Lions served "Corn on the Cob" and other Fresh and Delicious products on the Civic Aisle at the Livonia Spree in June, 2016. We participate in the Spree to raise Community Awareness of Lionism and to generate revenue to support the good work that we do in Livonia and Redford.

Livonia Lions help Feed Livonia’s Hungry

On October 22nd, 2016, the Livonia Lions Club joined with other Livonia Community Service Organizations (LCSO FORUM) and the Kids Against Hunger Coalition to purchase and package more than 25,000 meals to feed the hungry. Lions members, family and friends were part of 125 volunteers who participated in this effort. This was our fourth year participating in the meal packing event....a total of more than 75,000 meals have been packaged and distributed to date. "Eye Exams and Glasses"

The Livonia Lions help those "in need of" eye exams and glasses who are not otherwise able to afford to pay for these items.

"Used Eyeglasses and Hearing Aides"

The Livonia Lions collect used eyeglasses and used hearing aides. As of March 2017, the Livonia Lions have already donated more than 10,000 pair of used eyeglasses for refurbishment and reuse. The Livonia Lions have collected and donated 70,000 pairs of eyeglasses since 2009. Click here for a list of Collection Box locations
